Welcome!!!
March 19th is the Date of the Presidential Preference Election in Arizona.
It will also be the date of our next meeting. Unfortunately, the HOA2 Board booked their 3rd Townhall for the 12th of March, from 2 to 4 PM. As you know, this is the day of our regular meeting. Unfortunately, before sending the notice to the HOA2 residents, no one checked to see if DesertView was booked. (What are the chances anyone uses it on a Tuesday afternoon?)
With apologies from HOA2, we had to move our meeting to THE 3RD TUESDAY OF THE MONTH. Fortunately, our speakers changed their schedules and made themselves available. If you vote at Desert View, vote and then join us for a really great show...as Ed Sullivan used to say. We hope all members will please support our accomplished and interesting speakers on MARCH 19TH.
How to Survive and Thrive as a Republican in 2024 will be a frank conversation with Chris DeSimone. DeSimone is the morning host of Wake-Up Tucson on KVOI radio…Tucson’s only local radio program. KVOI also features national talk show hosts Hugh Huett, Dennis Prager, and Mark Levine.
Wake Up Tucson started on April 1st, 2009. Chris began it with his good friend Joe Higgins. Today, Chris flies’ solo with the help of his producer, Esquire Matt Neely, and regular guests, including Congressman Andy Biggs, Congressman Juan Ciscomani, and Congressman David Schweikert. He also brings his audience influential national voices like Grover Norquist. DeSimone also covers local issues like the financial debacle of the University of Arizona. Pima County and Tucson’s City Council de-funding the police.
The show has been a stalwart supporter of the small business owner and the average taxpayer. Wake Up Tucson has earned a reputation for being fearless when questioning decisions by local leaders and the ability to expose backroom deals and crony relationships that are harmful to the region. Chris says, "It's the show that 8 out of 10 elected officials don't want you to listen to".
Once again SBRC welcomes a prominent figure from the
Goldwater Institute. Among many of today’s hot topics, he will discuss policy reforms that could help protect Arizona from out-of-state special interests and measures to protect property owners impacted by Cities' failure to address the homeless crisis.
Austin VanDerHeyden is the Municipal Affairs Liaison for the Goldwater Institute; in that role, Austin helps municipalities across Arizona find free-market solutions to their problems, working with city councils, country officials, and school boards to promote limited government ideals.
Before moving to Arizona, Austin was a registered lobbyist in Minnesota, where he was born and raised. Austin also worked for Turning Point USA, where he conducted deep research into school boards nationwide.
Austin holds a bachelor’s degree from Crown College in Minnesota and a master’s degree in political science from Liberty University. He lives in Maricopa, Arizona, with his wife, son, and two dogs.
The Goldwater Institute is the nation’s preeminent liberty organization, scoring real wins for freedom from coast to coast. We’re committed to empowering all Americans to live freer, happier lives, and we accomplish tangible results for liberty by working in state courts, legislatures, and communities nationwide to advance, defend, and strengthen the freedom guaranteed by the constitutions of the United States and the fifty states.
Founded in 1988 in Arizona with Senator Barry Goldwater’s blessing, the Institute is a free-market public policy research and litigation organization dedicated to advancing the principles of limited government, economic freedom, and individual liberty.
SBRC's most essential role is introducing our members to Republican Elected Officials and Candidates. Many Republican Candidates need signatures. It is the easiest thing we can do to help. Nomination forms will be turned in on the 25th of March. Please help... https://go.azsos.gov/vpwd
The Primary Election Day is now July 30th. This is when Republicans and Democrats select their candidate to go up against candidates in the General Election. In Arizona, Independents can vote in the Primary. They choose either a Republican or Democrat Ballot.

There are 2 groups carrying petitions to get RANKED-CHOICE VOTING on the ballot in Arizona. There are reports coming into Republican Headquarters of people being followed to their cars. IF someone is that desperate to get you to sign their petition...don't do it. Remember, they are being paid for every signature they gather.
Ranked Choice Voting does everything but that. The SBRC will bring speakers to the club to discuss exactly what this is, and we will post links to websites to explain in detail exactly how this works and why it would be bad for Arizona.
In Short, a person receives a ballot, and you must rank your choices. IF there are 7 candidates running and you only vote for one...your ballot is thrown out. It is referred to as an Exhausted Ballot. A person must rank their choice numerically from 1 - 7. If 25 people are running...you got it...You have to numerically list your choices from 1 - 25.
It takes weeks (if not longer) to get the results. Alaska is fighting to change the system back to one vote after the disaster in 2022.
We will be posting more information with real experts explaining why this is bad.
We know that our SaddleBrooke Republicans are true patriots, and when you see the person carrying a petition, you want to engage... Please don't. Ask them if they are a paid circulator...if they say yes, walk away.
In closing, all you need to know is that George Soros is behind these changes.
The job includes overseeing communications from SBRC to the membership, including writing articles for the website and newsletter and communicating with the Membership. If you have experience with Constant Contact and Godaddy we need you!
Membership in the SBRC is for SaddleBrooke residents only.
